Think you’re too smart to be scammed? Think again. Most people think they wouldn’t fall for a fraudulent text or email, but criminals are more sophisticated than ever.
If you suspect a text, email or call might be fraudulent, never hesitate to contact a bank, financial service provider or known organisation on a number you trust, such as the one on the back of your payment card or on their official website. Find out more on our Advice page.
A genuine bank will never contact you out of the blue asking for your PIN, full password or to move money to another account.
Always question uninvited approaches in case it’s a scam. Only give out personal or financial details to use a service that you have given your consent to, that you trust and that you are expecting to be contacted by.
Always contact your bank using a number or email address you trust.
